Finding support and community after your miscarriage or stillbirth

If you have lost a child to miscarriage or stillbirth there is strength in knowing you are not alone. Grief can be very isolating. If you are looking for community and support as you walk this difficult path there are resources available.

We are blessed to have the national headquarters of Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support located here in our area in St. Charles, Missouri. Share has helped many of the local hospitals establish or strengthen their perinatal loss support programs. Share currently has several online support groups. Their pregnancy loss support chat is held the first Tuesday of each month, their pregnancy after loss support chat is held the third Tuesday of each month, and on the fourth Tuesday of each month they host an online support chat for bereaved parents who are more comfortable communicating in Spanish. Share also has a few different Facebook groups for bereaved parents that provide a place where you can share and find support among other parents who have experienced loss. Please visit their website at nationalshare.org/online-support/ for more information and any updates.

Unfortunately, COVID has made in-person support groups difficult to find. You could check this link for possible in-person support groups: nationalshare.org/share-chapter/ . Hopefully as the COVID-19 Virus becomes more contained the opportunities to meet face-to-face with other bereaved parents will open up again.

Stillbirthday, the organization that I am affiliated with, also has a Facebook support circle that can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/stillbirthdaysupport/ .

Hopefully this information will help you to find other loss parents who you can share with, vent to, and feel supported by. You are not alone.
